Country School Lodge sits along 259th Street in Kimball, South Dakota — a quiet crossroads town between Rapid City and Hot Springs. We're not a chain. We're not trying to be. We're a straightforward, no-fuss place to park the car, close the door, and actually rest.
Kimball sits on the drive to Wind Cave National Park, the Black Hills, and the Custer Battlefield — and we know a lot of travelers pass right through without stopping. We'd rather you stop. A clean room, a quiet street, and a phone call away if you need anything. That's what we offer.

One of the world's longest and most complex cave systems — roughly 45 minutes west via US-385.

Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and the Needles Highway are all within a short drive west.
Hot Springs
Historic mineral baths and the Wall Drug stop are about 30 minutes south on Route 87.
Kimball Itself
A quiet, friendly community with local groceries and fuel — everything you need for a quick resupply.
We didn't plan to stop in Kimball. We just needed a place to park for the night. Country School Lodge gave us exactly what we needed — a clean room, a quiet street, and a proper night's sleep before the drive to Wind Cave. We'll be back.
